The Portland Program is an offering of meditation and Buddhist teaching. It takes place at the Portland Dharma Center, 2514 SE Madison, Portland, Oregon. The program includes classes on Buddhism and related topics on Sunday afternoons, and meditation on Thursday and Sunday evenings and meditation and informal breakfast on Monday mornings.

The Portland Program is led by the Head of Zendo, who works directly with the teachers to create a harmonious and lively practice environment. The Head of Zendo coordinates the Training Positions, to keep the zendo running smoothly. Introduction to Meditation classes are offered on both Thursday and Sunday evenings. They are open and free to the public. |

When coming to meditate please wear comfortable, loose clothing that will not be distracting to others. Please do not wear shorts, tank tops, beeping watches or strong perfume. Meditation can be done in any comfortable, upright posture. Cushions, benches and chairs are available. |

Doors open at 7:00 pm.
Zazen begins formally at 7:30 pm.
A formal 25-minute period of zazen begins at 7:30 pm. It is followed by 10 minutes of kinhin (walking meditation), and then a second 25-minute period of zazen.
At 8:30 pm a 20-30 minute Dharma Talk is given by one of the teachers or senior students. Following the talk is a short chanting service. Tea and socializing follow until 10:00 pm.
A 25-minute period of zazen begins at 7:30 pm followed by 10 minutes of kinhin, a second 25-minute period of zazen, another 10-minute period of kinhin, and finally a third 25-minute period of zazen.
During these three periods of zazen one of our teachers offers sanzen (private interview about practice) to ZCO members. Following zazen is a short chanting service. Tea and socializing follow until 10:00 pm.
The Portland Dharma Center is owned and operated by the Dharma Rain Zen Center, a sister sangha.
Two 25-minute periods of zazen, separated by a posture adjustment bell,begin at 6:00 am
Following zazen is a short chanting service followed by informal breakfast and discussion.
