Relationship and Place: Indigenous Histories of Clatskanie and the Portland Basin
August 3, 2026
Monday, August 3, 2026 from 7 - 9 pm
Join us for a talk on the Indigenous histories of Clatskanie and the Portland Basin. Rengyo Rachel Tusler, a longtime resident at Great Vow Zen Monastery and a member of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma, will offer an introduction to the Indigenous peoples whose ancestral homelands include these regions. The talk will explore historical periods from time immemorial through contact and colonization–including the treaty era, boarding schools, and termination–while holding the question of what it means to be in good relationship with the land we inhabit.

This event will be in person at Heart of Wisdom and online. Zoom link to join online: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84016661759
