Life Vows Weekend Retreat
January 5 - 6, 2024
Friday 6 - 9 pm and Saturday 9 - 4 pm
As we pass the Winter Solstice and turn to the new year, the time is ripe for contemplating vow. When you think about life’s purpose, what comes up? For some, we can feel overwhelmed by the fear of not knowing how to identify our aspirations or actualize them. We can become self-defeating, avoidant, overly idealistic, or face other kinds of obstacles.
Whatever arises, zazen and inquiry offer a framework to become grounded, meet these sticking places, and transform the energy of the unknown into pure possibility. Zazen teaches us to turn down the volume on the planning, worrying mind and make space for deeper kinds of knowing. Beyond the Inner Critic, beyond limiting beliefs… what matters most to you? How do you want to show up in this life? We’ll explore two great gifts and our part in them: the gift of no fear and the gift of life purpose.
Through practice, we come to realize we do not have to live our lives passively, subjected to the worldly winds. Vow offers a path to inspire and support our lives. This retreat will combine the practices of zazen and devotional ritual with exploring vow and developing personal vows through individual and group visioning activities.
